Bird Key is a small island located about 5 minutes away from downtown Sarasota. It is comprised of about 500 homes with most being on the canals or overlooking the bayfront. Initially, Bird Key homes were developed in the 1950’s and most homes to this date remain. Bird Key Real Estate saw a tremendous increase in value during 2000-2006. During this time many of the older Bird Key waterfront homes were removed and replaced by much larger new homes. Bird Key is adjacent to St Armand’s Circle and Lido Key. So it is nicely situated with night life, beach and shopping close by. It is a favorite of boaters since most homes have boat docks at the back of their homes. The community only has one entrance, and no through traffic, which creates privacy for the residents. Bird Key real estate can start at about $700k for entry level homes.
Bird Key Waterfront Homes
Many of the original waterfront homes have been extensively renovated and some have been removed to make way for new construction. Bird Key is adjacent to St Armand’s Circle and Lido Key, and only 5 minutes from downtown Sarasota. So it is nicely situated with night life, beach and shopping close by. Waterfront homes start at about $1.0 million for canal front homes to $10 million for a new bayfront mansion. Its proximity to downtown and the beaches has allowed Bird Key to become one of the prefered areas of Sarasota.
